What is the ABCdaire?

The ABCdaire program was developed at the Centre Hospitalier Universitaire (CHU) Sainte-Justine and has since become a trusted resource for healthcare professionals caring for children from birth to five years old. Tailored for doctors, registered nurses, and nurse practitioners, this comprehensive assessment and monitoring program provides essential tools to structure regular medical visits.

With resources like data collection forms, age-specific tracking sheets, WHO growth charts, and a BMI calculator, the ABCdaire supports thorough, consistent care at every stage of early childhood. Backed by the latest scientific literature, the program’s content is continually updated, ensuring it reflects the most current medical knowledge.

For over two decades, healthcare providers across Quebec have relied on the ABCdaire to help foster optimal health and development in young children.

Which of the Clinique Médicale 360’s memberships include the ABCdaire and how much do they cost?

The ABCdaire program includes 6 medical assessments during the first year of life, followed by yearly assessments from age 2-5.

Our Newborn Membership covers the first year of life and consists of:

  • Six scheduled visits: At 1-4 weeks, 2 months, 4 months, 6 months, 9 months, and 12 months.
  • Comprehensive assessments: Regular monitoring of growth, development, and health milestones.
  • Vaccination support: Guidance on immunizations and updates.
  • Access to resources: Educational materials tailored for new parents.
  • Direct communication: Easy access to healthcare professionals for questions or concerns.

The basic (Silver) Newborn Membership includes these six visits and costs $1150/year. If you feel that you may benefit from additional visits during the first year of your child’s life, our Gold ($1300) and Platinum Newborn Memberships offer 1 and 2 ($1450) additional minor emergency consultations respectively. In addition, these Memberships offer a 10% discount on laboratory services as well as 24/7 telephone access to a doctor.

After their first year, your child can complete their ABCdaire assessments through a Youth Membership and be seen yearly at 18 months and then once a year from their 3d to their 5th year of age. This membership includes:

  • Annual check-ups: Scheduled visits at 18 months and every year until age 5.
  • Developmental monitoring: Assessments focused on physical, emotional, and social growth.
  • Vaccination guidance: Updates on necessary immunizations.
  • Parent education: resources and advice for supporting your child’s development.
  • Ongoing support: Continuous access to healthcare professionals for inquiries.

The basic (Silver) Youth Membership covers these yearly visits at a cost of $550. Gold ($730) and Platinum ($860) Youth Memberships offer, in addition to the yearly examination, additional consultations as well as a 15% discount on laboratory, nursing and mental health services as well as 24/7 telephone access to a doctor.

Both memberships are designed to provide you with the tools and support you need to ensure your child’s health and well-being during these critical developmental years.

What does each appointment consist of?

To ensure the management and follow-up of the health elements of the ABCdaire recommendations, each appointment lasts one hour, the first 30 minutes of which are spent with the nurse and the remainder 30 minutes with the doctor.

The nurse will evaluate and gather essential age-specific information about your child such as:

  • Developmental milestones
  • Feeding, sleeping, urination, and stools
  • Weight, height, and head circumference
  • Discussion on vaccines according to the current vaccination schedule
  • Provision of useful resources

The doctor will:

  •  Conduct a thorough age-appropriate physical examination designed according to your child’s developmental stage
  • Address any concerns you may have and answer your questions
  • Outline any necessary follow-up appointments.

Does Clinique Médicale 360 provide vaccinations?

Vaccination is one of the most effective ways to safeguard your child’s health and promote a healthier future for them and for our communities. Clinique Médicale 360 is proud to offer the vaccines your child needs for optimal protection

The Quebec immunization program includes vaccines at 2, 4, 12, and 18 months, as well as for older children. We will discuss these vaccines during your appointment to ensure you’re fully informed about what your child will receive.

Although you can obtain the Quebec immunization program’s recommended vaccines through the public system free of charge, you can also opt to vaccinate your child during one of their visits at the clinic at an additional cost. Please inquire about pricing when booking your appointment.

Does Clinique Médicale 360 provide vaccines that are not included in the basic immunization schedule, such as Bexsero?

Yes, we also offer vaccines that are not included in the basic immunization schedule, including Bexsero, for an additional fee.

Bexsero is a vaccine designed to protect your child against the meningitis B strain, which is prevalent in Quebec, alongside the meningitis C strain. This vaccine is recommended for individuals aged 2 months to 25 years. It’s important to note that meningitis B is not included in the routine vaccination schedule, so your child may not yet be vaccinated against it.

If international travel is planned before the child is 18 months of age, a Hepatitis A/B vaccine may be recommended. This as well as other vaccines may be important to consider for additional protection, especially for families with higher risk factors. It’s always best to consult with a healthcare provider to determine the most appropriate vaccination strategy based on the child’s individual health needs and exposure risks.

For more information, you may speak with your nurse at the scheduled appointment.
