Insomnia may present as difficulty falling asleep, prolonged nighttime awakenings, early morning awakenings, or a combination of these symptoms. It is estimated that more than 10% of Canadians suffer from chronic insomnia.

CBT-I is recommended as the first-line treatment for insomnia by medical authorities. This evidence-based therapy targets dysfunctional behaviours and thinking patterns that perpetuate insomnia. As many as 80% of patients notice lasting improvements in their sleep, usually within 2 months. Individual sessions are delivered by a neuropsychologist specialized in sleep and can take place in-person or virtually.
