Our online dermatology service lets you quickly get a specialist's opinion without a waiting room. How does an online dermatology consultation work?

The consultation takes place entirely in writing, with no video appointment or phone call. You communicate with your dermatologist through secure messaging, at your own pace and with no fixed schedule.

Simply attach a few photos of the affected areas so the dermatologist can assess your situation.

To get started: Call us at 514 375-2705 or email [email protected]. We'll open your file and activate your secure messaging.

1

Create your patient file

Please provide the following information:

  • First and last name
  • Address
  • Date of birth
  • Email address
  • Phone number
  • Photo of your health insurance card (RAMQ), including the number and expiration date
  • Pharmacy contact information

You then complete the $195 payment, then access our secure messaging platform.

Your RAMQ card is used only to confirm your identity and Quebec residency. As this is a private service, it is not billed to RAMQ.

2

Confirm your identity and submit your request

When your messaging is activated, upload:

  • A photo of an ID in selfie mode (ideally your RAMQ card), to confirm that the identification belongs to you
  • Clear photos of the affected area

Tip: Take 2 or 3 clear, well-lit photos (natural light is ideal), without makeup, one close-up and one from a distance to show the location. Avoid filters and make sure the area is clean and clearly visible.

3

Evaluation by your dermatologist

  • Your dermatologist reviews your photos and medical history.
  • Communication is via secure messaging, with no video call.
  • If details are needed, your dermatologist will contact you and you respond at your convenience, with no scheduled appointment.
  • You will usually receive an evaluation within 48 hours (business days) of submitting a complete set of photos.

4

Acne Treatment Prescription (if required)

  • If applicable, the prescription is sent directly to your pharmacy.
  • You pick up your medication according to the pharmacy's instructions.

5

Follow-up

  • If a follow-up is recommended, your dermatologist will let you know.
  • Each follow-up consultation costs $195.

FAQ: Online Dermatology

What payment methods are accepted?

Online payment by credit card is required.

What is online dermatology via secure messaging?

It’s an asynchronous dermatology consultation: you describe your skin problem and send photos via secure messaging, without a video appointment or having to leave home. Your dermatologist evaluates your case and responds with a treatment plan, usually within 48 hours.

How does a consultation work?

You create your file and complete payment, you upload your photos, your dermatologist reviews your case, then you receive an evaluation, recommendations, and, if necessary, a prescription. Everything is handled through the secure messaging system.

What types of acne can be evaluated online?

Our service focuses on the treatment of acne in its various forms: hormonal, inflammatory, cystic, and persistent or recurring breakouts. If your dermatologist determines that another condition or an in-person exam is needed, they will refer you to the appropriate resource.

Who evaluates my case?

Your case is reviewed by Dr. Robert Solomon, dermatologist and member of the Collège des médecins du Québec.

How long will it take to receive a response?

You will usually receive an evaluation within 48 hours (business days) of submitting a complete set of photos.

Is the consultation conducted by video?

No. The consultation takes place through secure messaging, with no video appointment required.

Each treatment plan is tailored to your specific condition to ensure effective and safe care.

(1)Limitations of Online Consultations

Virtual consultations are suitable for the evaluation and treatment of acne in most cases. However, if your situation requires a physical examination or additional tests:

  • The dermatologist will inform you
  • An in-person consultation will be recommended
  • Consultation fees will be fully reimbursed if remote care is not possible
